Samsung, HTC say Android 4.1 update info coming soon , Samsung and HTC, two of the largest Android handset manufacturers, have said that they will be providing information soon on which of their devices will be receiving updates to the latest version of Google's Android operating system. In a statement to Android Central, HTC promised forthcoming news on updates, while Samsung did so in a response to inquiries from Pocketnow.
Google has already noted that Samsung's Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S will be receiving over-the-air updates in mid-July. Samsung gave little additional information on when owners of the Galaxy S II, Galaxy S III, Galaxy Note, and other devices could expect an upgrade. The Galaxy S III, at least, is said to have been designed to be "future-proof," and may therefore receive an update sooner.
HTC's One X and One S models are also expected to be upgraded to Android 4.1. HTC provided even less information than did Samsung, saying only that the company is "excited about Android Jelly Bean" and plans to support it "across a variety" of its devices. The company is currently reviewing the software in order to determine an upgrade plan and schedule.
